Don Walsh (Canadian football)

Don Walsh (1932-2006) was a football player who played for 3 teams the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL) from 1953 to 1964 at offensive guard and linebacker.
Don Walsh was born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, and grew up in Montreal. Walsh played college football at the University of Denver.〔http://www.justsportsstats.com/footballstatsindex.php?player_id=walshdon001〕 Walsh first joined the Calgary Stampeders in 1953 but played most of his career as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1955 to 1964 at the positions of offensive guard and linebacker. During that span, the best record of the Roughriders was in 1955 and 1956 at 10-6. In both years, they lost the Western conference finals to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. They also lost the semi-finals in 1958, 1962, and 1964, only winning in 1963, but subsequently losing the finals to the BC Lions.
After studying the subject at the University of Denver and the University of Arizona and after his professional career, Walsh became an architect. He died from cancer in Vancouver at the age of 74.〔http://www.cfl.ca/article/former__rider_dead_at_74〕
